Two Killed, Customs Office Razed As Security Agents, Saki Youths Clash

Two persons were reportedly killed when some youths in Saki, Oyo State and officers of Nigerian Customs Service engaged in a bloody clash in the town on Thursday.

THE WHISTLER gathered that Customs officers chased a driver who allegely smuggled rice and killed him.

But some residents claimed that no contraband was found in the vehicle when it was searched.

The killing angered some youths who went to attack the Customs office in the town. They reportedly set it ablaze and vandalised the vehicles parked there.

One officer of the NCS was said to have been killed in the attack and this led to shooting.

The traditional ruler in the town, Oba Khalid Olabisi, was said to have imposed curfew on the town to stop the violence.

The Director of Media at the palace,
 Akeem Olabisi, confirmed the effort of the monarch to our correspondent on the telephone.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the police had been deployed in the town to restore peace and order.
