Vote Us Out If You Are Not Satisfied With Our Performance- Minister

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sarika, has said that raining curses on political leaders will backfire on Nigerians.

The aviation minister also advised citizens who are not satisfied with the performance of the government to vote it out using legitimate means.

He said this on Friday in a tweet seen by THE WHISTLER.

He said, “Telling truth to power is not only noble but patriotic. However cursing leaders is counterproductive and unwise.

“If your curse befalls them, they will take evil decisions that will affect you and your country. Pray for leaders to lead you well, or change them by ballot, simple.”

The administration of Muhammadu Buhari has been criticised by the government for not addressing the challenges affecting the nation.

Inflation rate had jumped to 18.12 per cent under the administration, from the 9.0 per cent inherited from former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Unemployment also jumped to 33.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2020.

But in reaction, a Twitter user @Babarus5 said, “Nobody will curse a leader who is doing the will of the people.”

@bryanbryanise said, “I agree with everything said, except the sentence of prayer for the leaders. The said leaders were voted Into office and prayed into office.
“The ones appointed were under the mandate of elected ones. So they don’t need prayers they need to put to task.”

@johnjaspah said, “True, they need to ‘put to task’. But the essence of the post is for you to pray for them to succeed in making a good decision for your country, that will benefit you. He didn’t say you should pray (personal) for them and their family or welfare.”
