Why I’m Not Satisfied With My Achievements In Kaduna- El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that he is not satisfied with his achievement despite being able to attract investment valued at $500m for his state amid Covid-19 and insecurity.

The Kaduna State Governor said this during an interview on Channels TV as part of events marking the annual summit, ‘Kaduna Investment Summit 6.0’, which was organised by his government.

El-Rufai said, “In spite of the pandemic, we were able to grow our investments in the last one year by about $500m. I think Kadinvest 5.0 which was done online helped in enabling that to happen.

“We don’t give up, in life you always have challenges, it is like a game of cards. You get dealt a bad card sometimes, you will have to confront the situation as public leaders try to find a solution. So, we had to keep on in spite of the challenges. That was what we did and it paid off.”

He said the state has done well so far, but his administration is not satisfied with the achievement level.

“Many people say we have done well in many areas, we have quadrupled our internally generated revenue, we have attracted nearly $3bn in investments, we are not satisfied,” the governor added.

El-Rufai said the state accounts for 2.5 per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product when it has the potential of contributing 5 per cent to the nation’s GDP.

He said, “We want to double our GDP, double our portfolio of investment. We want to double the jobs we were able to create. We are very ambitious and we are never satisfied.

“We get positive feedback from our investors, from the people of Kaduna that we are trying, but we think we are far away from our goal.”

El-Rufai revealed that his greatest challenge was cynicism and the rising insecurity.

He said insecurity which heightened by 2017 is another challenge that has posed a huge disadvantage on his administration.
