DSTV, GOtv, Startimes and other pay television operators in Nigeria have complied with the directive of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to decrypt signals of local channels on their platforms to allow Nigerians have free access to them.
The NBC disclosed this in a press statement posted on its Facebook page on Friday.
According to the Commission, the move was aimed at allowing Nigerians to have, “unhindered access to information and directives from WHO and NCDC on the Covid-19 pandemic” in the country.
The NBC said, “DSTV and GOTV have decrypted 5 channels. These channels are NTA News, NTA Sports, NTA Parliamentary, NTA2 Lagos and NTA International.
“Startimes have decrypted NTA News, ChannelsTv, AIT and other local channels, while FreeTv has decrypted all the channels on its platform.
“Nigerians are, again, advised to obey directives on lockdown and observe social Distancing.”
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has so far announced 190 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country.
Out of this number, 20 patients have recovered from the disease and had been discharged, while two deaths have so far been recorded.
