Three Injured In Anambra Road Crashes

A road accident, Sunday morning, involving a blue 911 Mercedes Benz tipper with registration number AH389UWN, was recorded near Premier Brewery in Onitsha, Anambra State, with the driver sustaining serious injuries. Eyewitnesses said the crash occurred as a result of over-speeding, leading to loss of control of the tipper, and crashing into the drain. He was rushed to an undisclosed hospital by good Samaritans for medical attention.

Another road mishap occurred in Awka, at about 0825hrs, on Sunday, involving a white Toyota Hiace bus belonging to GUO Transport Company, with registration number AWK84YH. The accident occurred near FRSC Office, Awka, along Awka-Onitsha expressway.

According to the FRSC public education officer of the state command, RC Kamal Musa, “The crash occurred as a result of excessive speeding, leading to loss of control. It also involved nine persons, six male adults and three female adults. One male adult and one female adult who sustained varying degrees of injuries were rushed to Preston Hospital, Awka, by FRSC rescue team from the Sector Command.”

Meanwhile, the sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, has cautioned motorists to desist from over- speeding and abide by the 50km/hr maximum speed limits stipulated by law in ‘built-up areas as road traffic crashes are avoidable’.
